Anybody knows a good commissioner?

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 1, 2005, 1:26 PM
In need of getting someone to represent me and get a lot of commissions.

Hello there! I know for a fact that we can find many people on the US who works selling artists commissions for fans all around the globe. I heard about this guy called Graeme, but the e-mail my friend gave me is no good. They say he represents a great deal of artists and gets a lot of commissions for them. Well, if you KNOW a good commissioner, please, let me know!

Thanx again guys!

Aw no keep on with the comics never give up :D Did you know there's an agency for comic book artists that has an office in Sao Paulo?? It's called Glass House Graphics -- I just joined them after SDCC 2007. My friend Vitor runs the Brazil office. Here: [link]

Hey Ian, sorry to bother with all those questions man, but im really having headaches trying to paint something worth the effort, and your work is just absolutly gorgeous. Thanks a LOT for your explanations, and yes, its of great use for me. I have been painting even the last touches with turpentine added to the brushes, something that my teacher told me to do, but a lot of people told thats no good, i can see now, that even you DO NOT use turpentine 100% of the time. Im trying to figure it out now how to make underpainting and paint the colors at the top of the grisaille. Glazing is something that it´s not as easy as it seems. My glazing is getting opaque and i leave brushstrokes all over the paint, gotta figure it out whats going on. Again, thanks a lot for everything

to your questions. I use a wash of burnt sienna, then work from dark to light, using thin washs with turps and as you get to the lighter colours put the paint on thicker, but most of mine are still quite thin so you can see the layers of different colours. I don't really use any mediums just turps but only at the start for shadows and stuff, And would tend to use titanium white sometimes zinc but all really depends on what your painting. Don't know if thats any use to you but none the less. And your drawings are class.

thanks for the comments... on that untitled painting, I started with a mixture of cold black and trans red oxide and covered the surface. (Which was a Cennini recipe trad. rabbit skin glue/calcium board)
I wiped the image out from that... similar to how Mark Tansey works.. Then did the underpainting with a warm/cool palette. Finished with full color.

I lived in Brooklyn for 2 years, and currently live in Jersey city, NJ

talk to you later

sup man, everything doing fine around here, hope you´re doing fine too. As for Darren, I quit working for him a while back, it was just leading to nowhere and I need to move on one way or another. Hope to do a collab with you soon ;) cheers, mate

I have a fine arts degree - got it 30 years ago! - but it's not important. I've always been able to draw, as I suspect you have, and with your skills I'm sure you'll find the transition to portraits and live models relatively straightforward. I work almost exclusively digitally now, and, if you haven't already seen them, there are some step by step workthroughs on the digital page of my website:

I'll look forward to seeing your new work.

Thanx a lot. Your work is impressive. Im trying to study more live models and portraits. Comic Book art is something that do not really moves me anymore. Im studying portraits and live model now. Thats how i found your work here. Did you get an academic degree of some sort like fine arts or something? Trully impressive. I could use some lessons with you if i was living in the US.
